I have always been a pretty much in shape. Mostly, this was due to a high metabolism. I was in Pom in High School (and YES, it IS a sport) and worked out pretty hard during that. But when I wasn't in Pom, my work outs were pretty sporadic. Then in college, there just was not any time.
When I got out of college, that all changed. I started work at Kraft and they have a work out gym in the basement of the office. I started running 2-4 days a week and doing a few little strength things (sit ups, push ups, squats, the like). And I felt really healthy. I could notice little improvements in my body and it was great.
THEN, I started working out with our trainer, Eric. Eric has made my body better than it has ever been before. And it is pretty simple people, strength training! Running is great. And if you want to be a good runner and get a healthy heart, by all means, keep running. But, if you want to notice a change in your body, get strong! I, like a lot of women, was pretty afraid of the weights, especially the big equipment. I was afraid of doing something wrong and looking silly. Well, who cares if you look a little silly when you look HOT. I mostly do free weights in circuits, which means that you do exercise A for a specified period of time, then you do exercises B,C, and D. Then repeat.
You know what also makes exercising so much easier? Bring a friend! Working out isn't a chore when you are laughing the entire time or dissecting men's silly brains.
And the best part is not the affect it is having on my body, it is how empowered and healthy I feel. I feel almost unstoppable. I am strong and I am capable. Gerrrrr!!!
greetings fans of Emily. The alleged Eric is me. Its always so rewarding when you read something like this or somebody sais it to you in person when it is nonsolicited (like this). I really enjoyed training Emily and a lot can be learned from this girl (who you can tell was a dancer a mile away). You can be strong and you can be beautiful. They aren't mutually exclusive.
